What you need to know to apply for on-campus housing!

Housing Application Instructions for Continuing Students

These instructions are for continuing students only which includes (Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, Graduate Students, and Doctoral Students returning for their second year).

If you are a new student (including students retuning for a new degree), please refer to the Incoming Students Housing page.

STEP 1: Submit your Housing Prepayment by April 14, 2023

  • To qualify to select a room, Continuing Students must submit a $500 Housing Pre-Payment.
  • To make your prepayment, log on to the MSM Student Portal using your MSM credentials.
  • The link to the PayPal where pre-payments are collected, will be found under the “special links” section on your student portal.

STEP 2: Complete Your Housing Application (March 15 – April 14, 2023)

The Housing Application will be live from March 15th through April 14th.

In addition to the pre-payment, you must submit your Housing Application by April 14th to be eligible to select your room on April 18th and April 20th.
Complete your Housing Application via eRezlife

  • Students using eRezLife for the first time will need to activate their account.
  • The Housing Application can be found on the home tab, under “Your Housing Application”

PLEASE NOTE: Your housing lottery number does not depend on how quickly you complete the application, so please take your time!

STEP 3: Select Your Room! (April 18 & 20, 2023)

Once you have completed Step 1 and Step 2, you will be assigned a lottery number and a housing selection time slot. You will receive an e-mail with this information on April 17th.

Each time slot has about 20-30 people in it, so when it is your time, sign on and follow the prompts to select housing.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL TIME SLOTS ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

Contract Binding

Continuing students who apply during Housing Selection and are assigned a room are bound by the terms of the Residence Hall Agreement as of May 1. This includes required students (rising sophomores) and non-required students (juniors, seniors, second year graduate students, professional study and doctoral students.)

Housing Waitlists

Due to the first- and second-year undergraduate student residential requirements, specific floors and rooms will not be available for the housing selection process. This restriction will limit the number of spaces that will be readily available for returning students to select and may result in a waitlist for housing. When the demand for space for first- and second-year students has been satisfied, additional spaces will be offered to students on the waitlist. Any additional questions can be answered by contacting the Office of Residence Life. Waitlisted students will be notified of their status and will be contacted and placed as rooms become available.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    Q: If the application is not timed, how is the order determined?
    A: Students will receive a random lottery time. This is done so that all continuing students have an equal opportunity for a preferred lottery time.

    Q: How can I find a roommate?
    A: There is a roommate finder on eRezLife! Once you apply for housing you will see a tab called “My Roommate Profile” – click the box to turn on your profile, make your profile, and search for others via “Roommate Search”.

    Q: How can I search for the rooms
    A: Floor plans will be posted on eRezLife on under Resources a week before the first selection day.

    Q: Can I reserve a space if I don’t have a roommate?
    A: Unfortunately, not. You should try to find a roommate via the resources on eRezLife or Residence Life will use your preferences listed on your housing application to try to match you with the most compatible roommate available.

    Q: What if I don’t get a roommate or room, I’m happy with?
    A: Residence Life holds a Room Change Period once a semester (Fall & Spring) to help accommodate changes to students living arrangements.

    Q: What if I don’t get a single room?
    A: After Housing Selection, Residence Life will send out a form where students can sign up to be placed on the singles waitlist. If a single room becomes available to offer, we will offer it to the next person on the singles waitlist, based on the order that they signed up in.

    Q: What if there aren’t any rooms available for me to select?
    A: If all of our housing is filled, you will be placed on the housing waitlist. We will reach out to students on the housing waitlist to offer spaces as they become available.

  • Medical Accommodations

    Medical Accommodation documents must be turned in to the Office of Residence Life by March 31, 2023.

    Any student who would like to live in Andersen Hall and requires specific disability accommodation should request housing accommodation via our Medical Accommodation Form.

    Students must complete both the Medical Accommodation form and the Physician Verification Form. Current MSM students must submit the required documentation to the Office of Residence Life no later than March 31st. You can submit your completed forms by e-mail or mail. The Office of Residence Life will make every effort to meet the needs of our students.
